The first encounter of the Lord
through preaching of His word
cuts deep into the inner man
from the truths that are heard
____
as if something speaks to the heart
the feelings of one’s guilt
exposing sin as what it is
a wall that has been built
____
that’s placed between man and his God
a separated void
because of sin man lost his way
where peace is not enjoyed
____
thus the word of God is Jesus
both man and God divine
His words are life as He is life
His truth is light that shines
____
the light of which exposes sin
the darkened part of man
discerning the thoughts of the heart
such power who can stand
____
now Jesus has become the Way
for sin to be erased
by the shedding of His own blood
no judgment shall one face
____
because the word does bear His truth
of promises secure
that man shall live for evermore
amid a love so pure
